Woman Checks on Her Golden Retriever Home Alone via Pet Cam, Left ‘Crying’

A woman checking-in on her golden retriever via her pet cam was left in tears at what she discovered the dog was doing.

Separation anxiety is a very real issue for dog owners heading to a place of work every day. In fact, a survey of 1,000 dog owning workers conducted by the mobile canine grooming firm Barkbus, found these employees spend an average of 682 minutes or over 11 hours a month checking in on their dogs while at work.

Hannah Gardner, from upstate New York, has probably racked up a similar amount of time keeping tabs on her three-year-old golden retriever Remington.

“We got her at eight-weeks-old from an Amish breeder in Pennsylvania,” Gardner told Newsweek. “She loves people. I’ll bring her to the dog park and she’ll only hang out with the people. Everyone says she’s like the therapy dog for the dog park.”

Remington enjoys all the kinds of things you would imagine a dog like her would. “She loves veggies and playing with her soccer ball and her giant banana toy.”

Unfortunately for Gardner though, there’s something else Remington likes to do when she’s left home alone in the daytime: break stuff.

“She usually rips her toys apart or does something naughty,” Gardner said.

Remington the golden retriever can be naughty.
Remington the golden retriever has a naughty streak. That’s what made the video all the more surprising.

So, when Gardner decided to check-in on Remington while at work, she “figured she’d be ripping up her toys” when she turned the camera on.

However, nothing could be further from the truth, as the video Gardner posted to her TikTok, hannahrosegardnerr, shows.

“She was all cuddled up on a sherpa blanket,” Gardner said. “I started tearing up when I saw she was being a good girl and minding her own business.”

Gardner was at the store when she checked in on the pet cam and admitted in the caption accompanying the footage that it left her “crying in the bread aisle.”

She wasn’t the only one who left feeling emotional at what Remington got up to.

“She’s adorable,” one viewer commented. “She’s precious,” another added. “Thank you, she’s the best puppy,” Gardner replied.

Others were reduced to tears by what they saw on the clip. “Stop, I’m gonna cry,” a third said with a fourth writing: “Go home now and snuggle her please.”

Gardner was only too happy to comply, telling that final commenter: “oh i did, don’t you worry.”

Gardner will probably think twice about jumping to conclusions about what Remington gets up to while she’s out of the house at work.
