Prince Harry ‘feeling more and more isolated’ as Colombia trip saw him ‘sulk’ behind glowing Meghan
The Duke and Duchess were promoting their joint work while they tripped across Colombia, but a source close to the couple said the prince was "in the background"
Prince Harry is feeling “more and more isolated” after spending his and Meghan Markle’s much-anticipated Colombia trip in his wife’s shadow, a source has claimed.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex travelled to the South American nation in mid-August to a raucous welcome from the country’s leaders, despite them not having worked for the Royal Family since before 2020. The couple touched down on August 15, and spent four days promoting their charity work campaigning for internet safety.
They took centre stage as the guests of Colombian vice-president Francia Márquez, and both spoke at length about the dangers and potential of the internet. Sources close to the couple have revealed that, while the two were forming a united front during their tour, Prince Harry was “sulky” and “in the background”.
Speaking to The Sun, the source added that the Prince’s wife stepped out in front and stole the show, appearing “comfortable stepping into the spotlight”. They said: “Harry is feeling more and more isolated in California, which is why he has been reconnecting with old friends back home.
“The Colombia trip also really highlighted how Meghan is comfortable stepping into the spotlight, while Harry cuts a very sulky, unhappy figure in the background. He wants to carve out a way back into royal life back in the UK and is seeking counsel from old friends and associates.”
Prince Harry has occasionally returned home to the UK in the years since he and his wife made the move to Montecito, California, his most recent being in late August for the funeral of his late uncle, Lord Fellowes. The Prince flew from the US to join the service at St Mary’s Church in Snettisham, Norfolk, on August 29.
