Tiny Chihuahua Obsessed With Cuddling Huge Cat Sibling Melts Hearts
A video showing a cat and dog cuddling has gone viral, and users can’t cope with the heartwarming relationship.
Last week, TikTok user @its.piggyyy posted the clip, which shows Piggy the Chihuahua lying on top of a tuxedo cat named Nugget and locking her paws around him as they prepare to nap. The clip then cuts to Nugget petting Piggy as they stand in front of their feeding bowls.
“She’s always been his baby,” the poster wrote in the video’s text overlay, adding in the caption, “Such a papa bear.”
Though some believe that cats and dogs are each other’s worst enemy, this couldn’t be further from the truth, and pets such as Piggy and Nugget clearly prove the opposite.
Newsweek contacted @its.piggyyy for comment via TikTok. We could not verify the details of the case.
The American Kennel Club said on its website that cats and dogs can live together peacefully and even become best friends. However, some breeds tend to be friendlier to felines than others.
Toy breeds, such Chihuahuas and Chinese crested dogs, and sporting breeds, such as American water spaniels and English setters, are among the friendliest and most outgoing breeds, making them the most likely to befriend felines.
On the other hand, terriers and hounds, to name two examples, are wired for chasing prey and may not get along well with cats.
The American Kennel Club also reminded readers that these are generalizations, and that most dogs can be trained to live peacefully with cats.
It all begins with a proper introduction. It’s important to take things slowly and give each animal time to adapt. Their interactions should be supervised until they are comfortable with each other.
Pet owners should focus on creating an environment that feels safe for both pets, without pressuring them or rushing the process.
The video of Piggy and Nugget has gone viral, receiving more than 2 million views and 665,000 likes on TikTok.
One viewer commented, “The fact that he literally looks like he’s crying in the beginning.”
“No this brought tears to my eyes,” another said.
“The pup holding the cat like is gonna pass away in his arms,” a commenter wrote, adding, “the tenderness.”
