Although the clash appears to be nothing other than a coincidence, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were slammed, yet again, on Monday for the timing of their latest announcement.

The couple, who are now based in the US, are planning for the release of Prince Harry’s new docu-series, POLO.

Netflix confirmed on September 9 that POLO will be hitting our screens in just three months – a reveal that came shortly after the Princess of Wales released a video giving fans a hopeful update on her cancer journey.

The Princess of Wales, 42, appeared in a deeply personal video with her family to share she intends to make a number of public appearances in the future following the completion of her chemotherapy course.

The Duke of Sussex will release POLO in December, Netflix confirmed on September 9.

According to the official X account for Netflix, the show will follow “elite global players and offers an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at the fast-paced world of the sport”.

The announcement came just 100 minutes, according to the Daily Beast, after Princess Kate’s cancer update. Writing in his column for The Sun, Piers Morgan shared that Kate’s update was shared at 4.29pm – while the Netflix announcement was published at 6.09pm.

The former CNN host wrote: One thing is indisputable, and it’s that the separate announcements perfectly encapsulated the very different lives of these two couples now.”

It is unlikely Prince Harry and Meghan were aware of the decision by Kensington Palace to release a statement on Princess Kate’s health journey, and they may not have played any role in the Netflix announcement.
