The start of 2025 has brought with it a fresh blow for Prince Andrew with the news that a firm managing his private investments has shut down.
Urramoor Limited – which the disgraced Duke had “significant control over” – has applied to be struck off and dissolved, documents filed to Companies House show. It comes just a year after the investment company was bailed out by a mystery donor.
It’s the latest setback for the Prince, who was absent from the royal family’s Christmas celebrations in light of his connections to alleged Chinese spy Yang Tengbo. Adding to his woes is continued questioning over how he will pay for his 30-room mansion in Windsor, Royal Lodge.
His brother the King is said to have cut off financial support to Andrew, including security at Royal Lodge and his annual £1 million living allowance. But it seems Charles is also the one person keeping Andrew afloat.
One source within the royal circle told the Mail Online that the King took it upon himself to personally clear his brother’s bills. They said: “He [Andrew] just doesn’t have that many friends any more. He barely goes out, he’s not that welcome anywhere. So it’s got to be family, and the obvious person is the King. I mean, why would anybody who’s not family want to give him money when they’re not going to get anything out of it except a lot of flack?”
Another person claimed Charles has enabled Andrew to stay at Royal Lodge for the foreseeable future with money from the monarch’s own back pocket – not the public’s taxes. The source, who has reportedly been a guest at the Windsor mansion before, said: “Charles has paid for it all. The King has cleared it. It’s all done.”
