Sarah Ferguson’s sister gives Prince Andrew verdict as Chinese ‘spy’ scandal rocks royal family
The sister of the Duchess of York has given her verdict on Fergie’s unconventional relationship with her ex-husband Prince Andrew.
In a joint interview, Sarah and her older sister Jane, opened up about their family’s long-standing association with the royals as well as Fergie’s battle with cancer. Despite being divorced, Fergie continues to live at Royal Lodge in Windsor with her ex-husband. The unconventional arrangement has certainly raised eyebrows as the couple split in 1992 and divorced in 1996.
But talking about their relationship, which sees them still live under the same roof, Jane Ferguson has offered her approval, saying her sister and ex-brother-in-law’s enduring bond is ‘incredible’.
In an interview with the Sunday Times, she explained: “Sarah and Andrew are the best divorced couple I know. They’ve done it for their children; it’s incredible. I came to stay at Royal Lodge in May and went riding with Andrew at Windsor Castle. It was lovely to get back on a horse and ride through the grounds again.”
The interview comes as the Duke of York is under scrutiny over his relationship with a Chinese businessman, known as H6, who has been banned from the UK over spying concerns. Andrew said he “ceased all contact” with the accused businessman when concerns were first raised about him in a statement from his office on Friday.
Speaking in the interview before the China revelations emerged, Sarah said: “I won’t let him down. He supports me as much as I support him. He’s supported me through thick and thin, not just marriage or divorce.” She added: “I was totally and utterly in love with Andrew. I would do it all over again, 100 per cent.
