Royal fans all share the same reaction as Prince Harry speaks Spanish in Colombia
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have spent four days in Colombia and made an appearance at Petronio Alvarez Pacific Music Festival in Cali yesterday (Sunday, August 18), with the Duke of Sussex trying out some Spanish
Royal Family fans are all saying the same thing after a video of Prince Harry speaking Spanish in Colombia went viral.
Harry and Meghan Markle were on stage with Colombia’s Vice President Francia Marquez at the Petronio Alvarez Pacific Music Festival in Cali yesterday (Sunday, August 18). It marked the final day of the couple’s visit to the country.
Footage from the event shows Harry bravely having a go at addressing the crowd in Spanish, giving them a hearty “buenas noches” (“good evening”) before thanking Marquez. He then switched back to Meghan, asking: “Can you help me translate?” To which she agreed.
One fan on TikTok said “it is nice to think that it is a representation of” Princess Diana. Another said: “So beautiful Harry, it’s like having Princess Diana.” And a third said: “Princess Diana would be very proud.”
Colombians were also very impressed with Meghan’s Spanish-speaking skills. The Duchess of Sussex is fluent, having previously lived in Buenos Aires and Madrid. One TikTok comment read: “Seeing her speaking in Spanish makes me feel closer to her and I like her.” Another said: “Meghan scored big points speaking Spanish.”
Harry and Meghan touched down on Colombian soil last Thursday (August 15), having received an invite from Marquez after she watched their Netflix docuseries. Despite no longer being working royals, the couple’s visit had all the hallmarks of an official royal tour. This marks their second trip this year, following a three-day stint in Nigeria back in May.
