Prince William ‘major barrier to peace’ between King Charles and Prince Harry
A report has claimed that King Charles is hopeful of reconciliation with Prince Harry, but that his eldest son Prince William has come a "major barrier to peace" between them
For the last few years, it has been well documented that Prince Harry’s relationship with some of the other senior royals has been pretty frosty.
Harry last saw his father earlier in the year, shortly after King Charles had announced his cancer diagnosis, with the Duke of Sussex quickly flying back to the UK so they could speak in person. Since then Harry returned to the UK to celebrate 10 years of the Invictus Games – during which time his spokesperson confirmed the monarch didn’t have the time to see him.
Whilst King Charles still has hopes of a reconciliation with his youngest son – a report has claimed – Prince William is less likely to budge when it comes to welcoming Harry back into the fold, to the point where his position has become a “major barrier” for Charles and Harry’s relationship too.
The brothers were last seen at the same event during King Charles’s coronation, but recently both attended their uncle Lord Robert Fellowes’ funeral – though The Sun has reported that the pair sat apart and were not seen speaking at the service.
William’s position on his brother – with whom he once shared a close bond – has reportedly not shifted, creating a “barrier” for reconciliation between the King and the Duke of Sussex, per the Mail on Sunday. “A major barrier to peace, however, is Prince William’s intransigence,” the report claimed. “He is said to believe his own relationship with his brother is irreparably damaged and to have rebuffed the idea of a reunion. Moreover, William is toying with the idea of abolishing the religious oaths of the Coronation – potentially leading to the disestablishment of the Church of England.”
