Prince Harry and William treated ‘barbarically’ says Queen’s son

Queen Camilla’s son has opened up about the “appalling” treatment that his stepbrothers, Prince William and Prince Harry, have endured at the hands of the tabloid media through the years. Tom Parker Bowles, a well-known food critic and writer aged 49, found himself under intense scrutiny ever since his mother’s relationship with King Charles became public in the late ’90s.

He elaborated on the harrowing experience adding: “Pushing, jostling. It was horrific, and you are protective of your mother. Counting how many paps were at the gates, to see who was watching us and taking photographs: it was all as normal as bacon and eggs in the morning. You didn’t think of it in any other way … [But] it was barbaric.”

While discussing his own experiences with the press, Tom also acknowledged that his Royal stepbrothers, William and Harry, faced far more intense scrutiny. Although Tom, Camilla’s son, is not often seen with the princes, who are reportedly not on speaking terms, he shared with The Telegraph how “appalling” the tabloid treatment they endured was.

Tom said: “I learned a long time ago not to put my fat fingers into the world of William and Harry”, reports the Express.

“But it was appalling what they went through. I’ve had a billionth of what they’ve had to go through but hell, I sympathise.”
