Meghan Markle’s dad says she ‘shouldn’t have left’ first husband in swipe at Prince Harry
Meghan Markle’s father, Thomas Markle, has reportedly taken another dig at Prince Harry by suggesting that his daughter should have stayed with her first husband. The 80-year-old former lighting director, who is estranged from the Duchess since before her Royal wedding, spoke out as Meghan gears up for a new chapter with her upcoming Netflix series.
Despite their lack of communication, Thomas reportedly still cherishes old family photos of Meghan, including those from her wedding to Thomas. It’s widely believed that Thomas has not spoken to Meghan, his daughter with Doria Ragland, since before her marriage to Prince Harry in May 2018.
Thomas also revealed his plans to move abroad, although he said he has yet to decide on the exact location. He hinted at south-east Asia as a potential destination, recalling his past travels there and describing it as a “place of culture and beauty”, reports the Mirror.
Thomas, who currently resides in Rosarito, Mexico, near the US border, has decided not to renew his lease and will be moving with his son Tom Jr, 58, Meghan’s half-brother. Despite never having met his grandchildren Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three, Thomas made an emotional plea on Good Morning Britain last year for Meghan to allow him to see them.
He told the show: “This is a cruel thing to do to a grandparent… To deny the right to see their grandchild.”
