Meghan Markle ‘no longer a megastar’ as she’s left with ‘no choice’ over latest move – but there’s a very silver lining
After a three-year break, Meghan Markle made a grand return to Instagram on New Year’s Day with the handle @meghan. The account debuted with a heartwarming video of the mother-of-two running across a beach to write “2025” in the sand. In an adorable touch, her husband, Prince Harry, was the one capturing this charming moment near their Montecito home. Just days after her new account went live, the royal’s follower count skyrocketed, surpassing the one million mark.
“And it left us all wondering what she meant and what she’s going to be getting up to in 2025. She hasn’t broken any records with gaining followers – and she’s not the mega star she was when she was part of the royal family – but I’m sure her following will build.”
She continued: “Any business these days really has no choice but to engage in social media, so I think this is a shrewd and obvious move for Meghan. And with predictions that each post could earn her staggering sums, you can only wonder what’s taken her so long to get back on Instagram.”
The Duchess of Sussex, previously hinted at a return to the social media scene. Speaking to The Cut in August, she teased, “I’m getting back … on Instagram.”
The Royal had previously said goodbye to her personal online platforms before marrying into the Royal Family, but now it seems she’s ready to make a comeback with an all-new social media account that was created around June 2022, during Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
