Meghan Markle cruelly trolled over new cookery show trailer due to Netflix decision

It is just days before Meghan Markle’s new Netflix show hits screens – and its trailer has been promoted all over social media.

But it seems one move by the streaming platform has seen the Duchess of Sussex end up being cruelly trolled ahead of With Love, Meghan being available to watch. That’s because the official trailer for the show has been posted to Netflix’s YouTube channel with people able to comment on the post.

And since it was posted three days ago, almost 35,000 different accounts have left comments, many leaving spiteful comments mocking Meghan. Some poke fun at Meghan’s comment about pursuing joy rather than perfection in her food preparation with some even saying they had only visited the page for the comments.

It makes a stark difference from Meghan’s own Instagram page, where so far on the new account, she has decided to disable comments on her post, allowing people to only like what she shares if they want to.

In the past few months, both Meghan and Prince Harry have railed against the use of social media, slamming tech companies for not doing enough to protect children online. In 2023, the Sussexes urged social media platforms to strengthen content-moderation policies, saying that some apps could damage the mental health of young people.

According to The Telegraph, Meghan is ‘excited’ about her Instagram return and hopes to use her account to “reconnect with communities” and share updates on her “impactful projects”. The publication reports that she is committed to promoting a “joyful and thoughtful approach to online content and is hoping to “lead by example” in demonstrating how social media can be a tool used for good.
