James Middleton Shares Photo of Son Inigo on Skis, Reflects on Past ‘Blues’
James Middleton is starting 2025 on a high with his wife Alizée Thevenet and their baby son, Inigo.
On Jan. 9, Kate Middleton‘s younger brother posted photos of a recent skiing adventure with Alizée and their 1-year-old son on Instagram, and wrote about navigating the “January blues.” James, a pet food entrepreneur, has been open about his previous struggles with depression and said he finds solace in taking life one day at a time.
“A different type of January blues… 🩵🏔,” James began the Instagram carousel, which opened with an adorable photo of Inigo on skis! The shot showed the toddler all bundled up on a mountaintop, where he expertly held a tiny pole in each hand. Two of the family’s six dogs were next to Inigo and appeared in all the following pictures.
“The January blues used to hit me hard … and to some extent it still does — the lingering aftermath of the festive season and long dark nights mixed in with overly ambitious New Year’s resolutions mean I feel as if I’m only just about surviving and it’s only the start of the year … ,” James wrote. “But a few years ago I set myself a new mantra which was inspired by my dogs 🐾 Don’t spend every moment thinking of the one to come, or ones in the past.”
“The past is imperfect, the future will be too — take each day as a new day, you can be excited about the future … the past won’t mind!” the James & Ella founder said.
Princess Kate’s younger brother said that he and his family started the new year with “an adventure in the mountains,” where they had bluebird skies and crisp air — ideal for skiing. James’ carousel rolled to show Alizée feeding Inigo on the slopes, followed by a shot of the couple towing their son in a carrier while cross-country skiing with the dogs at their heels. Another photo showed Alizée snow shoeing solo, and the post closed with a photo of the family on the top of a mountain.
Reflecting, James said, “I can’t believe how quickly Inigo is growing up— in fact that scares me the most … I fear if I blink I will miss it … but like with the dogs we include him in all of our adventures making memories taking each day as it comes … ”
James and Alizée, a French financial analyst, married in September 2021 and welcomed their first child in September 2023. Little Inigo is following in the footsteps of his cousins Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, by learning to ski, as Princess Kate and Prince William are known to unwind with their children on private ski vacations.
The Princess of Wales turned 43 on Jan. 9, and James dropped a festive comment on Prince William’s emotional social post celebrating Kate.
“To the most incredible wife and mother,” Prince William wrote below a new image of the princess, taken by Matt Porteous, one of their go-to photographers. “The strength you’ve shown over the last year has been remarkable. George, Charlotte, Louis and I are so proud of you. Happy Birthday, Catherine.”
James dropped two emojis below — a birthday cake and red heart — sending love on his sister’s special day. The Princess of Wales blew out her candles after a challenging year in which she underwent abdominal surgery, was diagnosed with cancer and completed chemotherapy.
