Animal lovers have been left in stitches at a dog that was far too eager to try running across a frozen puddle.
Liam the dog lives with his owner in Ireland, where many areas are experiencing a cold snap with snow, ice and freezing temperatures.
Despite this, Liam’s owner, TikTok user @e_rudd22, was determined to get out on a walk with her pets, not knowing the stroll would result in her and her dog going viral.
In a video shared on Thursday and boasting over 2 million views, she records her feet walking across frozen water, nervously exclaiming “Oh God” as cracks splinter beneath her feet.
Then, out of nowhere, her dog comes rushing over and immediately tumbles, lying on his side and sliding across the ice and out of view of the camera.
The 26-year-old woman immediately starts cracking up, breathlessly shouting out “Liam!” through her laughter. But as she raises the camera, she captures Liam getting up, right as rain, and rushing back to the safety of the gravel, where he carries on with his walk.
“Poor Liam hadn’t a clue,” she wrote in the caption.
Newsweek has contacted @e_rudd22 on TikTok for comment.
And TikTok users reacted in a major way, commenting on the clip in the hundreds and awarding it almost 340,000 likes in just over a day.
One wrote: “1. The dog’s name is Liam. 2. You’re on an iced over puddle… I thought it was going to be a lake in Canada!”
Another said: “I never in my life have heard a dog named Liam until now.” A third commenter said: “Love when dogs are called human names.”
A user wrote: “The dog being called Liam absolutely makes this video,” and another admitted, “I thought you were on a lake or something.”
And as one commenter put it: “I don’t know what’s funny the dog sliding or the fact it’s called Liam. I love this.”

Dogs, like humans, can suffer in cold temperatures, and time outside should be limited in severe weather. Some breeds, however, were specially bred to thrive in low temperatures. The American Kennel Club says the Alaskan malamute, Samoyed and Siberian husky are some of the breeds that enjoy the cold.
The shape of the breeds’ eyes, ears, paws and tails helps deflect cold temperatures, and many have a double coat, with water-resistant bristles giving way to longer, downy fur.
