Kate Middleton makes generous move for child survivors of horror Southport attack
The Princess of Wales has extended an invitation to the child survivors of the Southport stabbing incident to attend her annual Christmas carol concert. Kate Middleton who is currently recovering from cancer treatment, has invited the young survivors to join her at Westminster Abbey on December 6, as confirmed by Kensington Palace.
They also met with emergency responders involved in the attack and heard about their experiences at the Southport Community Centre. Despite facing health challenges in what the Prince of Wales described as a “brutal” year, the princess is determined to stage the Together At Christmas service in 2024.
This event marks part of her gradual return to public duties after completing chemotherapy treatment in the summer. According to the Palace, Kate, who paid tribute to the war dead at Remembrance events earlier this month, has chosen a theme for this year’s carol service that celebrates those supporting others in need, with a focus on the importance of love and empathy.
“The service will shine a light on individuals from all over the UK who have shown love, kindness and empathy towards others in their communities.”
The Palace shared: “This year, Her Royal Highness wanted to celebrate the many people supporting those in need – individuals who have inspired, counselled, comforted, and above all else shown that love is the greatest gift we can receive.”
