The message came after Kate, 42, confirmed she had finished chemotherapy - and is ready to make a gradual return to work following her cancer diagnosis earlier this year

Kate Middleton’s brother has shared a touching message for the Princess of Wales after she announced she has completed her preventative chemotherapy treatment following a shock cancer diagnosis earlier this year.

James Middleton wrote on his Instagram “couldn’t be more proud” after Kate, 42, shared an update on her condition in an emotional family video. The clip featured never-seen-before footage of Kate, her husband Prince William and their three children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6.

The Princess spoke in a voiceover played alongside the clips as she spoke of her huge “relief” to have reached the milestone, adding she would now be undertaking “a few more public engagements in the coming months” as she makes a gradual return to work. The mum also said her illness has given her a greater appreciation for the simple things such as being loved and loving.

After releasing the video at 4.30pm today, the couple received a huge outpouring of support, including a sweet message from Kate’s close brother James Middleton. He wrote on Instagram: “I couldn’t be more proud.”

James, who is believed to share a close bond with both his sisters Kate and Pippa, also showed his support back in March when Kate first shared the news of her cancer diagnosis. Alongside a never-before-seen snap of the two siblings as children, James pledged to help Kate through her illness. He wrote: “Over the years, we have climbed many mountains together. As a family, we will climb this one with you too.”

While he was not featured in the new video released, their parents Michael Middleton and Carole Middleton were spotted playing cards with their grandchildren at a dining room table. The Princess of Wales is now expected to make a gradual return to work as she continues her recovery.
