Duke and Duchess of Sussex donate food supplies to victims of Los Angeles wildfires

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have donated food supplies to the victims of wildfires that have devastated Los Angeles.

Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle made the contributions on a visit to the World Central Kitchen in Pasadena, California on Friday.

The couple, who live around 92 miles away in Montecito, served meals and spoke to survivors of the Eaton Fire, which has ripped through more than 14,000 acres of land, during their visit, according to People Magazine.

They also joined Jennifer Siebel Newsom, California’s first partner, and Victor Gordo, the Pasadena mayor, in thanking first responders, including firefighters and police.

They later praised relief teams when they met José Andrés, who founded World Central Kitchen, at the food stations and have also made donations through their Archewell Foundation.

Thousands of firefighters have been working around the clock to contain the wind-driven fires in California, which have killed at least 11 people, ravaged communities and sent thousands of people frantically fleeing their properties.

Jennifer Garner, the American actress, was also among the celebrities who volunteered in the wake of the blaze, providing food relief for evacuees as well as first responders.

Standing amid the rubble of her home town of 25 years, an emotional Garner told US outlet MSNBC: “I did lose a friend, and for our church it’s really tender, so I don’t feel like I should talk about her yet.

“I did lose a friend who did not get out in time.”

She continued: “My heart bleeds for my friends. There are 5000 homes lost, I can write out a list of 100 friends who lost their homes.

“I feel almost guilty walking through my house, what can I do, how can I help, what can I offer?”
