King Charles is said to be keen on resolving “the Andrew problem” in light of a new TV show set to highlight his brother’s contentious ties with Jeffrey Epstein.
The Duke of York, 64, who at 64 is residing in the sprawling Royal Lodge, has been out of the spotlight for approximately five years following his retirement from official duties at the firm.
Speculation continues to swirl that the monarch is contemplating relocating his brother to quarters more fitting, especially since Andrew’s protection was axed following an assessment by the Home Office.
The cost of maintaining Andrew’s current security detail is believed to be around £3 million annually, which is on top of a sizeable yearly stipend he receives, reports the Express.
A source relayed to The Times concerning possible eviction from the Royal Lodge: “It is now two years into the King’s reign and he wants the matter settled.”
With regard to Andrew, reports suggest King Charless patience is wearing thin as he mulls over “only two possible options” for his sibling.
One choice would compel the Duke to gain financial self-reliance, paying for his security and everyday outgoings himself.
However, given the Duke of York’s apparently non-existent regular income and measly naval pension, footing the bills that support his standard of living could pose a significant challenge.
