Cat Returns Home With Note on Collar—Family Shocked by What It Reveals

A family who allows their cat to come and go as he pleases was surprised to find he returned home one day with a note attached to his collar.

Angie, @crazydiamond419 on TikTok, shared in a video posted that her daughter’s cat, Maynard, constantly sits by the window or door crying to be let outside. They decided to put a collar on the cat to help identify him as he goes outside and explores. Plus, it would indicate to others he belonged to someone.

Little did the family realize that his adventures brought him to another home. Maynard’s secret double life was exposed when the family he had been visiting decided to send him on his way with a note attached to his collar. The note read: “We love visits from your sweet kitty. We wish we knew what to call him.”

Maynard’s family couldn’t believe he was being welcomed at another home. Touched by the note, Angie immediately wrote a response to tell his second family more about him. She folded it up and tapped it around his collar.

The TikTok video ends with Angie and her daughter listening to the feline’s demands to be let back outside. The waiting game then started to see if they would get another note back.

Much to their surprise, Angie and her daughter received another note and Maynard quickly became a messenger between his two families.

“She was really nice and I felt we were both kinda excited about writing,” Angie told Newsweek via TikTok. “We just talked about Maynard and what he does over there when he visits.”

In a more recent video, Angie and her daughter received another note which revealed more details about Maynard’s adventures. He loves getting belly rubs from his second family and started staying in the cat house they have on their porch. Maynard likes to play and tease the other family’s cats through the window and of course, he can’t say no to the occasional treat bowl they leave for him.

But with the freezing winter temperatures here to stick, Angie said she hasn’t been letting him outside. His travels to his second family will resume once it’s not too cold for him to explore.

TikTok Users React

The TikTok video amassed nearly 700,000 views and 32,000 likes as of Monday afternoon.

“He’s got friends waiting on him by the door and everything,” one TikTok user wrote.

A second user added: “Maynar is busy, he got 6 families to visit daily. It’s a free spirit shared community cat.”

Others users shared that their cats also live a double life, with one writing: “Had a cat named Chip. He had a collar that had a tag that said, ‘My name is Chip and I have a home but I am just a mooch.'”

Another posted: “My cat came home once freshly bathed and wearing a bell.”
