Meghan Markle’s unearthed New Year’s resolution gives telling prediction of royal drama

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex is entering a new chapter of her life, with the launch of an eight-part series for Netflix called With Love, Meghan. The series will see celebrity pals of the Duchess “old and new” collaborate with her on cooking, gardening, and other lifestyle tips that aim to help the audience elevate the ordinary.

It’s something of a return to form for the Duchess, who for many years ran a successful lifestyle blog called The Tig before she shut the website down when her relationship with Prince Harry became more serious. A lot has changed for Meghan since 2017 when she said goodbye to that project, and her profile has increased astronomically, which will likely mean this new series has many more eyeballs on it than The Tig once did.

However, while much has changed for Meghan since marrying into the Royal Family, some things have clearly remained the same for the Duchess – and that’s never been more clear than in a recently rediscovered New Year’s resolution she made nearly a decade ago.

Town and Country reported the New Year resolution, which dates all the way back to 2016, was originally posted on The Tig itself, and saw Meghan candidly open up that pretty much every year she resolved to stop swearing and biting her nails, but never to much success – a relatable struggle many people across the country face as they try and keep up their own resolutions.

For Meghan, 2016 was different, and she explained that her main priority was to leave herself ‘open to change’. “For this new year, the only thing I aim to do is to approach life playfully,” the now-Duchess wrote, “To laugh and enjoy, to keep my standards high but my level of self-acceptance higher. My New Year’s resolution is to leave room for magic. To make my plans, and be okay if they sometimes break. To set my goals, but to be open to change.

“To let the magic know that there is an open door policy with me in 2016 and that it is always welcome to join the party. I invite you to do the same. Have a beautiful, blissful, and incredibly magical 2016. So grateful to be with you on the ride.”
