King Charles makes plea to youngsters as he opens the doors of little-known HQ to kids

King Charles has urged young people to get back to nature as he welcomed schoolchildren to his foundation’s headquarters in Scotland.

The King opened the doors to Dumfries House, home to The King’s Foundation, a charity he founded as Prince of Wales in 1990. Pupils from nearby Abbey Primary School told the monarch how they had enjoyed exploring the woodland areas of the estate.

The King’s Foundation regularly hosts schools, charities and other groups at Dumfries House for a range of outdoor learning sessions, including at our Outdoor Recreation Centre. These sessions are proven to improve the physical and mental wellbeing of young people, as well as their confidence and resilience, and improve teamwork skills.

All of the education programmes at Dumfries House look to nature for inspiration, and incorporate the natural world to deepen our knowledge, understanding and skills. The King’s Foundation delivers education programmes for over 15,000 students every year, for people of all ages.

“We are delighted that, as our Royal Founding President, His Majesty spent time with local young people benefitting from our best in class educators and facilities, which is central to the ethos of Dumfries House in ensuring we are all learning from and connected to the natural world.
